Let me tell you...
I'm happy that my girlfriend and I have to use our scant Mandarin to navigate life here in Taiwan, but getting to jobs to interviews is not easy. Can anyone offer any advice in this? We've found we've had to read maps in Chinese because the only Romanized map we found doesn't mention most streets. We've resorted to trying to decipher the telephone directory as well, but that is no easy task either! Are there any guides that give addresses to different buxibans?
Also, typhoons really suck.
My two cents.
For those of you who just came here without any interviews arranged, can you relate to this? Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks. |

Are you in Taipei?
I would imagine that most bushibans (to which you are applying) have at least one foreigner on staff. Perhaps you could talk to him or her on the phone and meet at a mutual location.
(Tip: It is always a good sign if the foreign and Chinese staff are friendly with each other....and willing to help those who need it!)
