I'm thinking of accepting a position working for a company based in Guigang that places teachers in schools around the city. I'm told that it is a (relatively) small city of 'only' about 350,000.
Just wondering if anybody else out there is working in the same spot and can offer some first hand experience or advice??

Chris

I often see population figures for Chinese cities misrepresented; the difference being population within the city limits versus population of the city and surrounding counties that the city services.

The population figures I found for Guigang city are around the 200,000 mark. Apparently Guigang doesn't have a KFC, McDonalds or any of the 'big name' supermarkets i.e. N-Mart, Metro, Carrefour, Walmart, etc. It must be a small place.

Here are some links (albeit of limited value):-

Check to see if they have CCTV 9 (English language) TV reception. Some of the smaller cities do not. 6 months, or a year, without TV (even if it's only news & documentaries) is extremely boring.

Also, a computer and 24/7 internet connection would be on my list of absolutely, definitely, 100% must have in order to accept the job.
