Well I have officailly been here 10 days, I Really do like this city but I'm starting to come across a lot of ppl lately that aren't as nice as I initially thought, even the foreigners aren't that welcoming . Maybe I'm just going through a little face here but I'm seriously considering heading to Saigon. I'm not saying I don't like this city I do, I really Do, it's lovely and very charming I'm just not sure I can say the same about it's habitants.

I have gotten offers from many schools, I'm really happy about this aspect. I taught or better said covered a class for another teacher yesterday for a school called CICE affiliated with UNESCO and while the first class with adults went rather well the second one with a bunch of teenage bratts was a Complete Disaster, a HUGE difference from Chinese students whom in my case were always very eager to learn and always asking questions. I DID not get this Impression from the Vietnamese students I taught yesterday. I'm trying not to make any general comparissons yet, I will give other schools a try first before I make the decision to go down South or if things don't go as plan go back Home.

I'm trying to be as optimistic as possible, hoping everything works out for the best but there have been moments were I'm asking myself lately if Coming to Vietnam to teach wasn't such a good idea after all for me.

End of rant....

I recently spent a week each in both Sai Gon and Ha Noi. It is not long enough for a definitive take, but my impression was that the people in Saigon were way friendlier. I felt like Ha Noi was a bit full of itself, and more agressive about trying to get the money out of my pockets. At least they smiled warmly when they tried to take me in Saigon. It felt like it was just part of the game, no offense intended.

I have met some vietnamese from Saigon and they seem pretty nice, what I'm sace about Saigon is the endless stories i have heard about theft. I'll give hanoi a try just have ti get use to living here for now.

Hi! I was wondering how Ha Noi is working out for you now? Have your initial impressions changed?

I've just deleted several messages in this thread which were not pertinent to the discussion at hand. It would be a very good idea for all (as appropriate) to get back on topic and off of unrelated matters. Thanks.
