I misread the posting and thought there had been a lynching in Suzhou. Gosh, I love language!

Many moons have passed since the last discussion of corporate work. In general, if memory serves, corporate work means high wages and a sea of troubles. A person must decide between that and lower wages with some amount of job satisfaction at a normal school.

I know about Golden International only through the frequency of their advertisements. I am guessing an agency that will ship you out to a public school in the hinterlands. I hope someone can shed more light.

Little Emperor,

I happen to have a friend working for Golden. At the moment, things aren't as bright for this company as last year. Apparently, one of their directors switched training schools to work for a competitor and took alot of the accounts with him. The school (I'm using the term loosely here because it's really a corp) is trying hard to find enough classes for the foreigners they've hired to work in Chongqing. However, it seems they have genuine positions in the more rural parts of Sichuan and Chongqing and Qian wei.

From what I understand, they generally pay on a regular basis and aren't trying to stiff its teachers...but that was when times were good. In my experience, when the belt tightens, the teachers feel the squeeze.

I wouldn't suggest either way for Golden. It was fairly good to a good number of its teachers. Now I couldn't say. Perhaps there's another FT with direct experience could add a little more.

Littleemperor pretty much summed it up. Aside from the fact that they are promising teachers work and after arriving they are just sitting around doing nothing and if the teachers want to work some where else due to the fact that they are not getting paid, Golden attempts to scare them saying well if you break the contract and leave then we will pursue you legally for breach of contract. One thing to remember is they are not licensed to hire foreigners although they just pay off the local authorities and they can still give work visas but you will just be a consultant or engineer or something to that effect on your visa.
