Some 30,000-odd words and two years later I am still writing! Indeed, I now realise it would have been better if I had attempted to list those aspects of conduct that do not annoy me

If only bees could access the internet and type; now that would be a buzz on the life of Ludwig.

Biff will appreciate this one (racism about to rear its ugly head again): Gulf Arabs who think they know more than you do.

*Students who plagarize and con't figure out why I am peeved at them
*Students who say NO when I tell them to do something
*Swearing. Seriously, if you want to get away with it, do it in Chinese since I won't understand you.
*Ridiculous rules that HK teachers follow blindly. Think for yourself man!!
*Bleching, farting and nose-picking that goes on the staff room.
*The state of the ladies toilets. Can't hit the water? How DO you pee? Can you not flush?

It's been a great week so far. Twisted Evil

Gordon, I would love to be there when your daughter yelled back at the Japanese and their "Irashaimasen" (SP??)!! That would be priceless. That truly annoyed me in Japan, esp. in the 100 yen shop where there were many workers and they all felt compelled to say it. Rolling Eyes

What do I hate about London?

1. English people
2. Prices
3. Weather
4. Rush hour
5. The crack dealers that hassle me every day walking home from work (Lambeth, the jewel of South London!)
6. Trendy bars replacing pubs
7. Moodiness (ahem)
8. Being high on the terrorism hit-list
9. Imminent anti-smoking-everywhere laws
10. It's better when a list ends on 10, isn't it?

Being back in America I find that most of the things I used to find horribly annoying are no longer a problem. There are virtually no annoyances here for me. Land use patterns, car usage, prices, consumerism, plastic food, television, advertising (including political) all seem rather tame, manageable, even sllightly quaint.

Possible, occasional challenges that remain on the annoyance front: my family (of course). And self righteous vegans (I'm talking about the type who delight in picking on mere earthly vegetarians). Luckily there aren't any self righteous vegans in my family.
