I never read the book. Now Speilberg is making this book into a film and the lead star is a Chinese actress. She is the young woman from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". I guess no Japanese is going to be spoken since the acrtress is Chinese.
Do you think such a thing even matters? Or can we lump all Asians together? If she does have to speak Japanese, Americans won't even notice she has an accent. Can you imagine a Chinese woman playing a geisha? |
