Has anyone completed the IH/BC Distance Delta recently? I would be interested to know how you got on- heaviness of workload etc. Several people who I work with have done it and said it was a nightmare.
In addition, although I know the price of the course is quoted at GBP 1850, how much did it actually end up costing you, what with orientation (hotels, flights etc) and exam costs?

ALSO- if anyone has done the Trinity dip by distance, could you let me know how that was as well? I have heard that is a bit easier!

Cheers

Steven,

The most appropriate place for your queries is Dave's Teacher Training Forum.

GBP 1850 seems a little expensive. The part time Dip here in Istanbul is just over a grand.

I don't know if you've noticed the clause about the final external observation for the Distance Dip. If there isn't a certified assessor in your country, you are responsible for their travel costs if it's not feasible for them travel by train. Paying for an examiner to fly in and out to watch a 50 minute lesson takes the cake in my opinion. If there are other people doing it in your area, you can share the cost. I'd look into this before making a commitment as it could add quite a lot to the final bill.

BTW, although I have no personal experience, I've heard a lot of good things about the Sheffield Hallam Uni. Trinity Dip but again it's not cheap:
Home Ss 2100, Overseas 2500 + LTCL examination fee of 320 for 2003. (PLUS 4 weeks living in England). It's going to be well over 3000 pounds. Here's their link anyway,

Yes, I have heard that you have to cover the examiners costs to travel to assess your lesson -that's why I am keen to do the practical part of the exam in the city where I am now, but all that is on offer is the Trinity one- not as expensive as the Hallam Uni one seems to be, though.

I know it' sgoing to cost me a lot of money but obviously I would like to keep those costs down as much as possible.
