Does anyone out there know of a teaching institution that could use somebody to teach Aviation English? I come with a complete training package for a 6 to 7 week course for pilots, air traffic controllers, airport and airline staff etc that will meet international (ICAO) standards. Wife and I have TESOL Certificate plus other training creds and would like to be co-located somewhere in China, preferably at a mid-size city. Please e-mail me a response if you have one.
Cheers

Any aviation English taught in China would have to be approved by CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) - no matter where it was being taught. As such, you would not only require TEFL/TESOL, but would need to be an accredited JAR66 standard instructor by your own countries' aviation authority or by JAA.

Training? Are not Mainland Chinese pilots and ground crew still trained abroad? I was always under the impression that most if not all were 'return home' Chinese (with prior training). Besides, I would hope they received more than 6 or 7 weeks of input!

Please don't encourage them.
They are slaughtering each other on the ground, I shudder to think what would happen if they took to the skies in increasing numbers.

Hola!

My father was an airline pilot and he told me that air traffic contollers must be able to speak English. I am sure in the biggest hubs and cities, this is so.

The people who speak some of the best English in Asia are the employees of the airline industry, especially ticket takers, and flight attendants. I do think that the flight attendants do not like foreigners, because they have to speak it, and because foreigners may want and desire different things. I made one mad for requesting ice cubes for example.

I hate to fly on the Chinese airline because the pilot is Chinese, which makes him more careless than western pilots, more impatient and in a hurry. A landing is the pilot coming in on final too fast, a hard landing, and a lot, of brake. I wonder how many brake jobs those planes go through in a year!

I teach flight attendants. They seem to like foreigners enough. Maybe you just caught them on a bad day.
