Hello all!
I'm glad to see everyone is as busy as ever on this forum....
It's official! I accepted an offer to work in Kochi city.
Is anyone living there now?
What is the city like?
The weather?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

City: 300 000 people, surrounded by mountains. about 8 miles from sea. Great Castle and good little Park. Good Sunday street market. Not a lot to do in the city (loadsof bars though) but beautiful rural prefecture. Great beaches, National Parks, Capes and camping on Shimano river but all a distance away. Just check out 'Kochi Japan' on Google.
Weather: Hot as h ell and very humid in summer (up to 36-38 degress, low 30's normal for June-early Sept and 85% humidity). Nice now though. winters mild.
People: Independent and friendly
Advice: Visit Godaisan, learn Japanese and get out to the beaches, the coast and the mountains.
Who will you be working for? |

i regulary spend my summers in kochi, and must say that i love it. the surrounding towns are beautiful, alound with the mountains and beaches. the food there is superb (my fav= katsuno tataki ) and the people are the friendlists, maybe im biased because i met my girlfriend there, but of all japan it ranks top 3 places for me.
good luck |

R u Serious means katsuo tataki which is a favorite way to serve katsuo fish in those parts. Kochi people know how to eat.
Shikoku is Japan's best kept secret. Tokushima ken has great festivals, Ehime ken has vast forests and mountains. Kochi is a little tropical. It gets the brunt of the typhoons, but it's the last place in Shikoku to get cold in winter. |
