are you there yet?
ESL in montreal seems to be in 4 parts, although shaman may (likely) know more.
private tutoring--20$ hour. hit and miss. some people have paid for their groceries with this.
Business teaching--12-40$/hr, depending on who you work for. busiest time of year is fall, summer is near dead. very very difficult to get full time work with one agency, until they know you quite well.
overseas student teaching--usually working full mornings or afternoons, pay rate between 12-20, busiest time is summer.
university programs. rumoured to be 40$/hr with benefits, but i haven't worked up the guts to get rejected by them yet. they apparently require MA's.
use teh online yellow pages to get the schools' names, phones, and many emails.
also try using the canadian government job bank online.
i went to montreal, and just visited a few places to get a feel for them. i'm not working full-time in esl, mainly because i don't do the hustle so well. and, yeah, i told a couple interviewers that i wouldn't work for less than 20$/hr, so that lost me work.
but considering that you aren't paid for prep or travel, anything less is short-changing yourself. |
