I am planning on teaching in Taiwan in the next year and I was wondering when the best time to look for a job is?

When does the school year begin and end?

When do most schools do their hiring?

If there is any other important information please pass it on as well.

Schools will close for Chinese New Year, which I think starts around the 8th February this year. Bear in mind if you come here during this time you won't be able to start to look for jobs for a week or so.

I would suggest the best time to come is just after the Chinese New Year, maybe 13/14th February - I came at this time last year and there were plenty of jobs around.

If you want to wait until later in the year you would be best to come around August. No specific date because some schools finish at different dates, but certainly there will be a lot of jobs going throughout August.
