Welcome back British Bulldog,
Do the words "glutton" and "punishment" mean anything to you?
Your new selection of emails with its interesting use of grammar just provides more overwhelming evidence to your true identity. And I am not alone in these opinions that you are a charlatan, and you're a very poor one at that. Somewhere, there is a village awaiting you to return as its idiot.
No matter how stupid a person from Britain was, they would never make the mistakes that Roger & Norman allude to. (Their judgment seems to be affected for some reason). A British person would know the difference between do and does in an oral context. So why on earth would they forget the most fundamental of English language principles when it came to writing? Answer me that please.
If you had confused their/there or your/you're - then fair enough - that happens to some teachers, but your errors are just stunning examples of Chinglish. Every error you make is from the manual on the subject! You're a joke.
If you had wanted to make friends, then it would have been better to say you're Chinese but work as an English teacher. We would have helped you. Do you really think foreigners are as stupid as your government makes out?
By the way, I talk to my students in a different way. It's all about appropriate language for appropriate situations.
By all means change your name to 'British 007; I can just envisage the jokes on film titles already:
"Dr No Idea What He Is Talking About"
"Blunderball"
"You Only Do Homework Once"
"For You're Eyes Only"
Great talking to you. It's been a blast. Go ABs said it 'takes guts' to return and still make grammar mistakes, in my opinion it takes monumental stupidity.
I suggest you keep your phone turned off in class, try paying attention to the teacher more and see if you can improve your woeful grasp of the English language.
Good luck. You'll need it. |

What Brit makes this mistake, even in stylistic choice?
If you are serious, you're first problem is that you're in the wrong bloody profession.
In my opinion this is a Chinese (or other) student who is testing his ability by pretending to be someone else, who has no respect either for his school (which gave him an accurately dismal English score) and no respect for "foreigners", who he hopes to treat as gamepieces.
You want sympathy, show some credibility! What the hell do you expect? |

Oh god here we go again teachers here again.
Grammer, Grammer, Grammer, Grammer, Grammer, Grammer, Grammer, and more about Grammer,
Maybe you should talk about something else or maybe this is American English grammer.
I wonder why it's called American English in China. To me it is rubbish. English did not start in America, if we want to get into a war over this that's ok with me.
1. In china we all know why the Americans went to the war with Iraq--It's only for oil, but it's really called "blood for oil" maybe this is an error in grammer grammer

to british bulldog:
sounds like your teaching assignment is challenging to say the least. i work in korea, but i am always interested in what teachers in neighboring countries are doing. i'm sure it helps that you have a chinese spouse though.
i for one believed your post. thanks for posting here. just ignore the critics--everyone writes differently. seemed rude to criticize your writing. feel free to pm me.

No, it can't be American English. In America it's grammar no matter how many times it's written in one post. |

I think with British Bulldog's latest display of drivel, some of us might be able to see where this is leading.
We know he is an impostor, and he seems very keen on creating discord and disagreement. As Atlas points out it's a game, perhaps BB has a grudge or mental problem and is trying to create divisions amongst teachers on this site. Now he's on about America and Iraq. What relevancy does that have, other than to be a childish pain?
This is all supposition - but one irrefutable fact remains - he's not real.
As Atlas says - No British person ever says 'comes from British'. And the multitude of other errors were horrendous, so much so, that I think Roger, Norman & Hamel must seriously question their eyesight and I must seriously question their powers of reason & intelligence in falling for such a trick.
British Bulldog - the game is over - go back to sleep - and it's better if you don't wake up ever again. |

| Perhaps this is Ludwig/RENEGADE/Cotard/Bertrand/Winstonsmith/Number 6/China Dim Drone/Robert Lubeck's latest attempt to get back on these boards? Bulldog's writing is so exceptionally bad that I am inclined to think it is the work of that habitual troll and totally bonkers criminal genius. |

Thank you for your support, and yes I am for real here in china.
We will just leave these children behind.
One thing I must add to this forum. It is there no foreign teachers can teach grammer in china because our grammer must be translated in Chinese ways. It means that we must know something about Chinese grammer first. |

If you reread your work, you can find on rereading that a great deal of repetition can be avoided by rereading and editing.
Bulldog - it's grammar ok? |

British Bulldog,
You are one of three things:
1) As a non-native speaker and learner of English and its grammar, you are doing OK.
I agree with you, it’s difficult.
2) If you are a troll, then again you are doing fine; but in this case we should all ignore you.
3) If however, you are a teacher of English, then you have something to learn whether you are a native speaker or not. (All teachers do of course)
Unfortunately, you seem to have a problem with honesty and that along with your apparent disregard for grammar will ensure that teachers on this list will react to you very negatively.
Don’t blame others for your shortcomings.
I believe if you were more forthcoming with the truth, (for example that you are a Chinese teacher of English) people would be far less concerned with your mistakes and respond to you positively.
While you persist with tall tales and half-truths, most people here would prefer you to just go away.
A troll would continue with your nonsense as above, a real person would be honest and straightforward.
What is your choice Mr 007/ British Bulldog?

My vote goes with Captain Yossarian. All but the genius part. A Genius would never get caught once, much less several times. I'm also not sure about who's named what - don't really care, either. Although use of the term genius is a bit interesting, eh?
But we have to think of the motivation behind the original poster, I think.
Would a Chinese person attending a University try to destroy that same university's reputation? Why would he want to discourage native speakers from coming to his Univesity? The one he spent the last few years of his life fighting to get into and whose reputation his future livelihood depends on? Ok, maybe he's from a chinese from a rival univerisity? Perhaps, but that's stretching it, think.
Now, what would a native speaker get out of impersonating a Chinese person's poor grammar and posting complaints of a Native speaker? well, someone of average or above intelligence would get nothing from it. But someone of below average intelligence would get a sense of accomplishement by having one over on all the moderators, "China Experts" and linguists.
POOF
I see an image of him in my crystal ball - his normally glazed eyes and dull experssion brightnening as he giggles to himself, master of a joke only he understands. A bit of drool works its way out of the side of his mouth and down into the keyboard, causing the keys to stick.
Every half hour throughout the night he wakes, afraid that the moderators may have cottoned on to him. With trembling hands he clicks the General Discussion Forum. As the page loads his giggle turns into a maniacal laugh as he gibbers to himself "They still haven't realized it's in the wrong forum!"
Or am I seeing an image from next week? |
