Is there more than one moon? One for Africa and one for Asia? Does Patrick Moore know about this? |
No but they are in different time zones. I think most people, and not just Mr. Moore, have known about this for some time.
There is general agreeement that a valid reported sighting of the moon in one time zone is good for all other countries within that zone, but the final decision still lies with each country's religious authority. |

Er no. Nothing like Christmas. Christmas lasts for a day if that but for ramadan, the fasting lasts for around a month culminating in Idul Fitri which you could, at a pinch, compare to Christmas day, kind of though not really |

Yeah, Eid is probably the closest that Muslims come to Christmas. People go to their neighbours, give cookies and money, buy new clothes, go have a communal prayer in the street (incidentally, the only time in the year that men and women can pray together...), stay up until dawn, and have some time off work.
Eid is slightly different from Christmas though, since it is supposed to last for a minimum of 2 days (sometimes as many as 4!!!). Plus, thankfully, Eid isn't anywhere near as commercialised as Christmas...
But Ramadan?? The time when most Muslims spend half the day praying?? As unbelieveable as it sounds, most of my Muslim friends really do see Ramadan as a chance to get closer to God, and spend quality time with their families. It's amazing how quiet the streets go at Iftar time - you just can't get a taxi!!! And for the poor needy people, the free street food at Iftar must be a real blessing... |

I was actually comparing the supposed waste of resources during
Ramadan to Christmas. Where I live Christmas is counted down
from Nov1 with 'chances left to spend on presents' its a sad pathetic
push to get people to spend cash they dont have. Christmas being
long know by anayalists to push the public sector deeper into debt
year after year.
Happy times! F-religion. |

Are you talking about the production of medical drugs? If not, please could you explain how "Morocco's huge drugs industry" (cannabis) has caused more misery than George W could if re-elected for another decade? I reckon your havin' a larf. Ask those in Falujah if they're more afraid of the US army or a joint. |
Ye, I'm having a right laugh, mate. It must have been side-splitting stuff for those train commuters in Madrid last year. Which country did the low-life bombers come from and where did they get the cash from to wreak such havoc? Enjoy your spliffs folks - after all you're not doing any harm, right? |

And that has caused more damage than Bush?
Get real!!
Don't be a knobber!!
Let's take Afghanistan - Biggest producer of HEROIN in the world - occupied by the US. Oh yes Bush is really helping us on the drugs front.
Sort it out pal! |

My my, you take this internet thing very seriously. I can just imagine...
Customer: Big Mac n fries, mate.
Cardinal: George Bush and Fellujia!!!!!!
Despite this, you're probably right. I could argue that those Madrid commuters were just going to work when those Moroccan drug-financed bombs blew them to pieces, but I won't because you're right, so right about everything.
If in doubt, just say the words: Fellujia and George Bush. |

Not really serious mate , just gets my goat coz there are a lot more things to rant about than morocco's hash export.
Anyway, if I was serious, I'd have learned how to spell Fellujia as you did.
I couldn't really give a toss about any of it, but I like a good argument!
Weirdly enough, I was in a hotel just behind Atocha Station in Madrid when the bombs went off. I'm not joking. A lot of the craziest sh#t (police shooting people with rubber bullets, bombs in the Basque Country and full on riots)I've seen seems to have been in Spain for some reason.
Maybe they should all get stoned |

The reason you ran out booze on your first Ramadan was because me and Bing were round every night. |

There's nothing, NOTHING funny about ramadan, apart from watching all the hypocrites showing how oh so holy and godly they all are. |

Is it that time again? Surely can't be too many eating days till rammers? How will you all be celebrating? Will you be a secret sausage eater perhaps? Anyway, like most of us I tried ramadam last year. A piece of cake it was, but the judge still fined me 400 grouts. This year, I feel like an amputee (nearly was after the cake incident) scratching at a missing limb. So, my question is:
How do I recreate Ramadam in my Birmingham bedsit? |
