I have been quoted 36000nt for return airfare to Canada. Last yr I paid 29000 for a return ticket from the same travel agent. I have been using the same agent for the past 2 yrs and have got some sweet deals to other places so I don't think they are ripping me off.

Just wondering what other fellow North Americans are paying for their return ticket this xmas.

travel agents are a thing of the past.

i just saw a 1 way return from taipei to vancouver for 730$ CAD which is about 20,000 NT.

go to www.evaair.com and book online. forget travel agents, they take a big cut. you got ripped off at 29,000NT

One way return? Which is it? One way or return?

I think the poster wants a return ticket, meaning two-way. I'm guessing s/he is going home for Christmas and returning after. Not sure a one-way would be helpful or useful if the person intends to come back. Two one way tickets cost more than one round-trip ticket. Check the original post. It refers to the price of a return ticket. Return does not mean "return to your country." It means two-way. Go to your destination and then come back again.

Travel agents are very useful for getting visas. If you make a multiple entry visa a condition for purchasing the ticket there is very good chance you will get exactly what you ask for.
Travel agents may charge a bit more for their services but being stuck in HK or the Philippines without a visa can be very expensive as well.
Good luck,
A.

Not sure what any of this has to do with a trip home for Christmas.

Does China Airlines still have a bad rep?

Anyone flown with them recently?

I've booked a flight with them but not sure if I should've or not.

They fly to Canada once a day - no problems in the last few years, touch wood!

I managed to secure a flight with...yes no other than China Air. 32.5 including tax. I flew with them last yr and I can't say I was overly impressed with the service.Maybe it will be better this yr.

I'm still interested in knowing what other people paid for their flights back home this xmas.

Mine was $38,700 China Air during Chinese New Year.

Flights go up during CNY about $8,000 or so.
