Your Results
In the following parts of the Taster Course you scored:
Part 1: A
Part 2: 16 out of 16.
Part 3: 7 out of 11.

Your talent is wasted! You have the right personality, you have shown an aptitude for the English language and have a creative flair. With that kind of potential you should get out there as soon as possible helping to improve the futures of English language learners around the world.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem i had with part 3 is using games in classroom:

I said no to battleships and hangman---to me those dont seem appropriate for the class

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- i have always thought of teaching even though i did psychology
--when i teach/help/tutor i just am alot different than what iam normally--i taught my girlfriend to drive, helped/tutored in grade 6 , then again grade 12 and again i took a warehouse course after i graduated from university and helped the other student ---some of them said i should be a teacher
--i have the same feeling when i play hockey but when i help im much calmer
--i really didnt like standing in front of classess though and am not a great communicator im ok at explaining things

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
wondering if i would be ok at teaching english that is my only concern

Dialectic,

Greetings, again !

I'm a little curious regarding the "Taster Course" - I've heard of CELTA, Trinity and TESOL International, but "Taster" is completely new to me ! What exactly is it ? Many of us on these forums would also like to know.

When re-reading your poster, for some odd reason, I began thinking about another poster, called "British Bulldog" - similar writing style, types of questions ? I'm not really sure. Anyway, why don't you do a search and send him a PM ? As he, himself, appears quite new to the ESL scene, but has managed to find a job here in China, he would be able to answer your queries relating to aptitude for teaching , classroom management, working conditions, and the like. It's also quite possible that he could help you to get a job at his own university. You'd have nothing to lose by contacting him.

Even better than "British Bulldog", would be the folk who regularly contribute to Dave's Teacher Training Forum. Many of them are involved with teacher training, themselves. Why don't you re-send the above message, to that Forum ? The people there will let you know whether or not you have an aptitude for ESL teaching.
Peter

Wow! *beep* me, I got "Your talent is wasted! You have the right personality, you have shown an aptitude for the English language and have a creative flair. With that kind of potential you should get out there as soon as possible helping to improve the futures of English language learners around the world." too! How crazy is that? It's almost as if they want people to pay good money to sign up to their worthless course and are attempting to encourage them to do so by setting a test that even the simplest of simpletons could pass!

I deliberately answered all the grammar questions incorrectly and was told

Well done. You have shown that you have what it takes to be an English teacher. It looks like you may need to work on your grammar awareness so we recommend the 60-hour Online TEFL course, which includes a 20-hour self-study grammar awareness module. The Online TEFL course also sets aside a lot of time for lesson preparation and looking at coming up with creative ideas for activities in the classroom.

Looks like they are after your money
