|
|
Hi Everyone,
I am curious to know if anyone can recommend a reputable and effective Spanish language immersion program in Mexico City. I am considering taking a few months to study Spanish (in various locations throughout Mexico) before actually beginning my ESL career, and while I have found numerous options in these other locations, I have not found very much in the Mexico City area, other than the universities.
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
Jeana |

If you were here in DF, you would find many more options available. For one, UNAM offers some great intensive courses, and not too hard on the wallet.
The probelm is more that DF is not known as the capital of Spanish language courses. This would be Guadalajara or Cuernavaca. In Guadalajara, there is a great course operator called the Guadalajara Language Center. Of course, I'm biased as we send all our Guadalajara TEFL course participants there, but we chose them to be our only course provider in GDL based on their prices, general support for students and teachers alke, and because they are run by some great people.

Do you by any chance have an email address or a contact for the program at UNAM. I am in DF now, unfortunately having to return to the US in a week for some business but plan to come back to study some more Spanish as soon as possible. And around how much are the courses?
Thanks,

Sorry, I don't happen to have contact info for them right here. Try the telephone book and call either the Polanco or Ciudad Universidad sites or get them through this website at http://www.blondecreative.com/unam2/unam_fall_04/spanish.html
Prices vary widely depending on how long and how intensive you want the course to be, I think |

kia ora,
I can recommend Academie Hispanico Mexico. It is near Insurgentes, about 10 minutes walk from the Zona Rosa metro station. I studied there for three weeks in November last year. I learnt a lot and met some great people. I think the price was very reasonable for the quality. All the information is on the website: http://www.ahm.edu.mx/home_eng.htm I just bowled on into the school one day, sat a test to check my spanish level and started class on the same day!
The teachers were very good, well-prepared and taught from a book that I think was developed by the school. Classes were small, about 10 people maximum. The other students were from Germany,Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Sweden, Holland. Ages ranged from 18 years to 40 years. The school is in a beautiful old house in a good area. Classes were in the morning, with conversation class in the afternoon. Just for fun, the school brought in some dance instructors and we learnt the cumbia in the patio under the trees. All in all, a great experience. |

Hi Jeana,
My name is Mark and I am also looking for the Spanish class in Mexico City. Have you found a class.
Academia Hispano Mexico looks like a good option; however, they do not appear to offer classes during the Christmas and New Year week.
Does anyone know of a school in Mexico City which might offer intensive week by week Spanish class to a beginner during the Christmas and New Year weeks?
Thanks,
Any info would be helpful.

Hispanico in Mexico City might consider opening a Xmas group if they knew there were enough people to form a beginner class. Anyone interested should email Hispanico. |

Hi Mark,
To be honest, I haven't actively pursued this since I am not planning to go to Mexico to study until sometime mid year 2005. Sorry I can't help, but I wish you good luck in finding a school.
Regards,
Jeana |
