Is it possible to get cable or ADSL internet connection in rural parts of Kyushu?

Its really a matter of your preference. But gas is expensive, streets can be narrow and parking can be a pain at times so if its a car you should get a compact. Also taxes and inspections are something to think about.

Welcome to the thread Cheryl ! Where in Saga ken are you going? I just found out last night that the population of Oseto Machi is 8000 . . . This worries me! I'm guessing that with such a small population, there won't be a whole lot of busses running . . . SO I'm thinking about getting a scooter . . . How far can one comfortably go on a 50cc scooter? I don't want to get a car, but feel like my own transport might be necessary.

Thanks.

A.S.

i haven't found out which city i'll be going to yet. From what i've been told by other JET's, is that i'll probably be put in Saga City and be an ALT for the prefecture rather than one specific school.

At an orientation meeting a few weeks ago, we were given information about cars i.e. how much they usually cost etc... my question was more about whether cars are worth it in Saga since i DO NOT want to be biking outrageous distances. A scooter sounds like a good idea! i never thought about scooters!

I know Saga is a small area...but i asked to be put in a rural area. I'm not one of those big city girls (although i come from a city with a population of about 600K) and like the slower side of life.

Wow, Oseto Machi is TINY!!! but Saga has beautiful landscapes and hot springs and F U K Uoka is only a half hr or so away by bus! well from Saga City that is...

Anyhow, let me know how you're doing! When are you moving? Are you for sure going to Osto Machi? Kyushu was my first pick for where i wanted to go because of it's beauty. All i hear about Kyushu is how beautiful it is! Although, maybe Japan itself is "beauty".
