Does anyone have a webpage documenting their time in Japan. Preferably with pictures and/or some kind of blog. All of the commercial sites I've visited are really stingy with day to day info and even more stingy with pictures.

I don't have a blog.

What are you interested in that you can't find on the Net from other sources or in guidebooks?

I think guidebooks and net sources are well, impersonal. It isn't showing the country through the eyes of one person. I found one site, strobe.net, that's pretty cool, but it's in French. Razz It has an English generator, so it's not like it can't be read. I'm not looking for the neat and clean picture of Japan. When looking up websites about New York, I found plenty of sites that showed the city through people and experiences (my favorite is Gothamist.com). None of them had the token postcard pictures or touristy views of the population. Some of the forums I've come across have been great, but none of the websites are all that humanistic, it's about Japan as a inanimate thing instead of a living, breathing, crawling entity filled with color and life.

In short, I want to see Japan from a anthropologist/photographer's standpoint and read about it from someone who has some sort of passion for storytelling.

They're all fairly good reads, so you'll have plenty of them at your fingertips.

I just trimmed the site majorly as we have been out of Japan for a year but FWIW you could visit our site at
www.johnandsheena.co.uk
Japan has now been relegated to the bottom of the list on that page.
We didn't have a blog at that time but had tons of news and photos. This very Christmas holiday, I culled about 80% of it to make room for Korea and other countries we've been in since I'm afraid. Hope it helps.

Hi,

You are more than welcome in checking out my photo website on Japan.

I have been trying my best to document every new experience I encounter here.

My fiance has a section also. He was just here recently.....and he's an actual photographer.

Ajia, your photos and your fiance's photos are absolutely amazing. These are the kind of picture I always imagine I'm taking and then I get my film developed and they turn out totally different. Truly amazing photos, guys!

My wife and I have a site that we're still developing even though we aren't in Japan anymore. It's at http://www.willstewart.com/japan/ . We even have a short video, and I'm currently working on a longer more comprehensive one. My wife took about 1500 pictures that we're still weeding through.

There's not much info but quite a few things to look at.

I have one -- a Blog AND an old site detailing how/why we came to Japan, along with some photos. The Blog is reasonably up-to-date but the other website is an abandonned project (at least for a long time yet to come)

Anyone who wants the URL info can PM me as I generally don't publically distribute the info. I keep these sites up mainly for the sake of family and friends (even though the subject matter is not geared to any specific audience).
