This is possibly an obscure question, but all shoot anyway:
Does anyone know of a 4week or so TEFL course that is given by an Title IV institution? Usually these are U.S. Colleges and Universities, but not always.
I have a grant that I can use with any Title IV school, but I really only want to obtain a TEFL or CELTA, not a post grad degree anything as time consuming. I just want a certificate that would enable me to teach abroad. Most likely I'll end up spending my own cash, but since I have this "education award," it would be nice to use it.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

What is a Title IV school? I am assuming it is a recognition of a 'good' school. Does your grant have an expiry date? If you can use it to get a master's degree then go for it. I don't want to be a downer on your ambitions to get a certificate but please take advantage of such a great opportunity! |

well, my grant is for about 5k, and does not expire for 7 years.
I may get a Master's Degree at some point in my life, but for right now I want to get out and teach English outside of the US - I am antsy! The thought just occurred to me that I would rather use part of it for a TEFL or CELTA, and use the remainder for the rest of a loan that I have. So, it will get used either way.
A Title IV is a college or university in the USA, usually. I think that it is a term that applies mostly for financial aid purposes. There is a whole list of guidelines that an institution has to meet to apply for Title IV accreditation. Like I said, just about every college in the USA has this accreditation, and some abroad as well.
I'm not sure if there are any smaller institutions out there that provide training for future TEFLers. If anybody knows of any I would be interested. this may be a shot in the dark.
