|
|
I will graduate one year early from college this May. Because I am graduating one year early, I will have one year off before I can accept my spot to medical school in July 2006. I really want to spend my year off teaching in Asia. Recently I have begun applying to different companies to come to Asia and a few have responded saying they can't help me until after I graduate. However, because of my very limited time frame of when I need to leave in order to be able to fulfill a one year contract, I am nervous that if I wait until after I graduate (May 15th), it is impossible to be leaving in June. Does anyone know how to get around this problem? Has anyone else faced a similar situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

AshleyP.
WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
Remember always read the contract before you sign it. if it was me i would not tell them i only want to work one year because i will graduate in 2006, don't give them to much information about your plans just come here and teach and then just leave at the end of your contract.
Maybe some on here will have a better advice then me.
Bye. |

same. common sense stuff this.
dont say u want to work for one year, dont say you havent graduated yet. say youll be available as of may 15th and dont mention time frames. say you taught some ppl informally as experience. |

What about when they ask for a copy of my degree? The problem is I can't provide a copy of my degree until after May 15th. |

Maybe you could tell them that you can bring it with you upon your arrival. you could possibly say that you have absolutly no access to a fax machine and that would be the only way to get your degree to them. I don't know if you can do that but it's always worth a try. someone else probably can help you out better than me. |

Tell 'em the truth; you've completed your studies and can provide a university transcript, but won't receive your sheepskin until May.
In many Asian countries it often isn't the school that requires you to have a degree, but that the local government requires you to have one to issue you a work visa. |

Absolutely. Tell them the truth. If you start with lies, it could get nasty and complicated. Date of degree award and stuff like that could be awkward. Also it depends if you want to work in a country where a degree is essential in order to get a work visa or not. |

Get an official letter certified from your university attesting to the fact that you will have graduated by a certain date. Get official transcripts to accompany it (just as a backup support).
You WILL have to provide something like this in order for immigration to start processing your visa. |
