CLC has just posted an ad at Dave's ESL Cafe. For all those thinking about working in Turkey, avoid this place like it were the plague, or ebola, or SARS, or any disease that you wouldn't want to catch.
This place is the reincarnation of Antik English, and is run by the same person.
You have been warned. |

Like flesh-eating bacteria?
I've heard the same. Their reps out front haven't even worked out that it's a waste of their time to offer me good prices on English lessons... |

Well thank you for telling us that CLC is a place to avoid. Now let me guess this will be in Istanbul won't it ?
Tell you what ignore my previous post let that 3 month free loader come over and try his luck, they sound like they could be a perfect match for each other . |

Wow, I only posted this about ten minutes ago and already a couple of replies! I guess the place has the reputation it deserves. There used to be an Antikl English hate site on GeoCities but I don't know if it's still there. Worth a read if you can find it. |

You can generally tell the vibe of a school when you walk in. I went to CLC with a friend for an interview and felt a cold chill to the core of my spine. It didn't seem like the boss knew how to smile. It's not a cultural thing as I've had plenty of overly friendly Turk bosses -although the friendly ones have mostly been female while this one was a male. Maybe he just doesn't like yabancı. Who knows. We got out of there and never looked back. |

City of London College ran a huge ad in Milliyet newspaper yesterday. This place sucks. For all those thinking of working there in the future, please visit the website below.

This muppet (Sinan Bey) is the same bloke who now runs CLC. Beware... |

Careful with your use of the word 'bodrum'. Throwing Turkish words into your otherwise English sentences might upset the poster of the 'What an opportunity' thread, and we wouldn't want to do that.
Oh yeah, you're right about the rest of it though. Come to think of it, you are surely meaning this as a joke aren't you, Breadmoney? Sorry, I guess I've completely misjudged you, or at least I hope I have. |

Faustino is right about Sinan. (who does not deserve the title bey)
In the mid 90s I had the displeasure of meeting him when he ran Cambridge English on Bagdat. He bankrupted that place-it was really terrible. I was working there mornings as a favour to a ''friend'' of his who was a language school owner that I worked for. Sinan was so broke that in the canteen he would go out and buy a dozen cokes. a dozen bottles of water etc., sell them to the students and use the money to restock.
The language school owner laughed when he heard that Sinan was appointed manager of Antik and said he would bankrupt that too, which I suppose he did.
I am not sure that Sinan is the owner of CLC as I don`t think he was the owner of Antik but just the manager. He was the owner of the bankrupt Cambridge School I am sure of that much.
Just look at the ad but of course they will get both customers and ``teachers`` they always do. |

What does any feel our position is, or should be, on disuading people from getting involved with such a place? I feel that I've been perhaps over-zealous in my condemnation of a place I've never worked at (although I did have an interview at Sinan-era Antik). Do we have a right to badmouth places? After all, this site gets alot of traffic. Personally, I reckon we have a duty to inform. |
