Does anyone know if I need to get my HIV test here in the States, or can I get it in China? Thanks. |

It really depends on the school you'll be working for. Some schools require that you get all your tests done before you get to China. Some don't. I like getting that stuff done outside China.
Then some schools require you all those tests done before you get to China, and when you get there, they don't accept them -- and you have to get them done again in China. Never happened to me, but I've heard it has happened to other teachers.
Ask your school! |

If your employer tells you to do it overseas then that's what you need to do in order to obtain your work visa from the nearest Chinese representative; if they say you can get it in China then they will take you to a designated clinic here and get your medical exam there; in many cases your overseas medical exam is not accepted here upon your arrival, and you have to undergo it a second time.
There is mistrust towards any authority even by other authorities. |

Hello there
I also had this question and before i came to China, i did my HIV, Syphillis, Hep A,B,C test in Canada and then brought over my paperwork. I also brought with my the bloodtesting kit and a bunch of needles. I really dont trust the hospitals here as you can see. Well, when we went to the hospital to get the check up thingy, i refused the bloodtest and made them take my paperwork from Canada. It took some time from my FAO to convince them and they did. I did every other test except the blood and it worked fine. But this is just one case in one hospital. But if you do it like this, stand your ground and dont back down or show weakness. Make them accept it.
Im sure many of you have different experiences and this is just one example. |
