I received a bill from NTT last week for using their services. Nothing unusual about that, except I cancelled my contract in the middle of december last year, and the bill says it is chargoing for the January period. Beyond calling NTT, any suggestions on what to do about this?

If not a phone call I don't know what you would be able to do otherwise unless you want me to say "don't pay."

I'll say it! DON'T PAY! Call the up. Make it clear that you won't pay a single yen to the likes of them.

They have English speaking staff so shouldn't be too much trouble.

Hmm.... I dunno about NTT but I used to work the billing/customer service desk for a major Canadian telco... This was our most common phone call...

The 2 most common culprits were: a) the phone was not disconnected properly (either through fault of the customer or the telephone comapny) so billing never stopped... RARE PROBLEM....

b) Because the bill is printed on the same day every month then sent out, if you cut off your bill in December, you may receive a pro-rated final bill in January. MUCH MORE COMMON...

If it's b) then the bill is correct. If you have doubts, please take your bill to your local NTT office and they can likely explain/fix it for you...

I would NOT choose not paying it as a valid option...
