Hello!!!

I have recently been offered a position in Comitan, Chiapas and was wondering if any one had ever been there. The infomation for it is pretty sparse on the net and I would love some first hand accounts.

Thanks

I worked there for 6 months back in 2001. It's a quiet little place. Not much to do in town. But the location is quite attractive. Not Comitan itself, but the way in or out in either direction will take you through some of the most stunningly beautiful scenery in Mexico.

The school I worked for doesn't exist anymore, so I can't help you there.

If the place you are talking to is anything like the place I worked at, you won't have a whole lot in the way of resources, so you might want to consider taking some things with you. Pictures are always good.

My wages were subsistance level, which was fine at that time because housing was provided - sort of. You won't save anything, but you'll be able to eat. You'd better have some extra money to get home afterwards or to help you move to a place where you can make enough to live on. Wink

The people were awesomely friendly and were genuinely curious in talking to someone from elsewhere.

The prices there were a bit higher than other parts of Mexico, I guess because of the isolation factor.

I don't know what else I can tell you. PM me if you have some specific questions.

Suerte
