|
|
So I received my new Foreign Residence Permit today, apparently there have been some big changes since the last time around.
The green books are gone. Now you'll get a sticker in your passport that is like a Visa. Which makes sense, because the RP supercedes your Z Visa anyway. And I am hearing rumors that the RPs allow us multiple entries, but surely that's too good to be true? There are no places on the sticker anywhere for "Entries," so I guess all of them are the same, or it devolves back to your Z Visa.
Anything else to add regarding these new Permits? Does anyone know when these new ones came into effect? Although I've done little but speculate thus far, I'd be interested if anyone knew the concrete details about these new Permits.
I got my new Foreign Experts Certificate today, as well, so that hasn't changed -- except for the picture, which is better! |

That sticker on your passport is both a residence permit and a visa at the same time. It will allow you to go in and out of China at your leisure without having to apply for re-entry permits or similar crapola as long as it is valid. |

Yeah it is a multiple entry visa too. Which is nice. |

I think it came in on January 1. I went to register a change of address and they took the old green book away and replaced it with the new visa in the passport. As Nolefan said, it acts as a multiple-entry visa, so there's no need to get a re-entry permit every time you leave China. |

Forgot to add that you need a digital photo for it. Most people get them taken at the PSB office. |

whaaaaaaat? when do the rest of us get those? i turned down a trip to hong kong because i was afraid of the hassle that applying for a re-entry permit might entail, and then i got hassled at a hostel in shanghai because i had only my passport and not my green book with me! |
