Im looking to do a tesol with tefl international at some point this year(it will be in thailand, vietnam or egypt) and after this I hope to find a job teaching english. My question is where is a good place to start? I dont have a degree but I would like to teach for at least a few years. What places would I have a reasonably high chance of finding a job? |

If you're looking to start off in any of those countries, I would suggest Egypt. I did the TEFL International course here last year, and I'm still in Alexandria now! It's very easy to find a job here, with adult courses hiring pretty much every 6 weeks. Schools are also interested in hiring most of the time, since there are very few FT's in this city!! The other 2, I'm not so sure about, but I think Thailand might be the easier option of the two.....
Good luck!!! |

Legally you cant get a work permit in Thailand without a degree. ( there are some exceptions to that but dont count on them )
So, if you have no degree, you have no work permit and you will be working illegally which means realtively ( that is relative to other teachers ) low pay and
odds are you will be
working in a government school with 50 kids in possible a non air con classroom
or working for a language school like ECC teaching little kids
either way you will, every 30 days, have to exit thailand to get a new 30 day tourist visa which will take you a full day.
If you are serious about teaching for a few years why not get a degree? |

Schools in Thailand will sort you out with a non-immigrant B visa when you get a job but you'll have to leave the country to get it. The schools will often cover the cost of this, but you'll still have to do a visa run every 90 days, there are loads of cheap trips on offer for this.
There is loads of schools there that don't ask for a degree, try these:

I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago and I found a lot of work but then decided that I didn't really want to live there. There is a lot of work in Phuket too. |
