Mr. Churchill's "Native" roots are now being questioned- along with his academic credentials. Will be interesting to see what develops.
I find his comments to be horrific. Period. Even the most liberal media hosts are calling his comments insane -as are most of yours Moon.
How most here from the USA or Canada can cry about a lack of " Academic freedom " is just laughable. Say what you will (and you will ) it's time to be just a little grateful for what we all have had access to. (Anyone catch the iraq election coverage?? Have to face death to vote lately???)
My time in China changed me forever-opened my eyes to just how much we spoiled ones take for granted. I am so grateful for what the experience there gave me.
God Bless America! God Bless Canada!
F^&K Ward Churchill- a pampered/ungrateful/walking cancer is all he is.
.....let's hear it! |

Ok. I've been out of the USA for a VERY long time, and first came across Mr Churchill's writing just a few days ago on the net. No comment. I don't know if he's Native American, left, right, good, bad, ugly, or crazy. Or stupid.
But the comments I've read about about academic freedom...I'm shocked. Yes, I know it's worse in China. Certainly worse in Iraq. It's a hell of a lot worse here where I am, in Ecuador.
So does that mean that Americans should shut up and quit whining? Maybe starting to fight it now is the only thing that will keep it from getting as bad as China, etc. Maybe instead of going on about how much we've all been "blessed," we should think about protecting the freedoms we're all gonna need!
If you want God to bless America, you can be sure he/she will want you to do some of the work. |

Calling me "insane" because you disagree with my point of view is in clear violation of the rules of this forum--in which insulting, abusive and hateful language is prohibited.
Russell Means from the American Indian Movement--who introduced Churchill at UC Boulder before Churchill spoke to the crowd of students (from which the excerpt I posted from his talk was taken)--doesn't question Churchill's Native American roots--so who are YOU to do so?
As for Churchill's academic credentials, you do not get to be a department chairperson in one of the most well-regarded public US universities if your credentials are not in order. Nor are you awarded tenure as a professor. Churchill's body of work--many articles and books--is certainly more ample than that of most academics.
And your gratuitous use of apples and oranges in comparing academic freedom issues to voting in Iraq certainly is not an acceptable use of logic. This is a forum about teaching--in case you have forgotten--of which the right to academic freedom has always been a central issue. I see no reason to throw that right out the door because the US government has decided to turn a large part of the planet we live on into a war zone.
Let's keep the issues clean, and knock off the insults and abusive language. Not only does it impede healthy debate, but also demeans the teaching profession. |

I realize that you are on a course of revamping your image here on Dave's-CONGRATS! I think it's great, you have toned down your insulting , abusive posts and have now replaced them with a "kinder, gentler" face, winning you a few new fans I see, lol.
However, to the many here who are well familiar with your "act", your true colors are known. You accusing me of being insulting is hilarious given your past performances, but I wouldn't expect anything less from the Queen of Conspiracy.
Yeah, I made a bit of an outrageous post, lol: so what? It's how I feel and many others too. I detest what he said about the victims of Sept. 11th. As for who "I" am to question anything...I am a person, alive and well in North America -that's all I need to be in our beautiful land and whether or not you approve is of little concern to me.
We are much blessed despite all the negative posts I read on here. I am seeing our world with new eyes and how grateful I am.

One of the most common techniques of propaganda--when caught with your pants down--is to accuse the person who accused you of exactly what you did. It doesn't cut it with me, so knock it off.
Sorry that you do not have many fans on this forum--maybe you should consider why that is. (My opinion--if that will help you any--is that you have never written a reasoned argument or position in regard to anything. At least not one that I have read.)
And spare me your sentimental "Oh we are so blessed in the US" propaganda, also. I go to the US frequently enough--was there and voted in the November election--to see it for exactly what it is--and it ain't pretty to see democracy being dismantled pece by piece on a daily basis.
You have absolutely no qualifications to be pontificating about Ward Churchills blood lines--OR his academic credentials. What you refer to as your "outrageous post" was in fact something a very cut-rate Rush Limbaugh wanna be would have spouted--full of hate, insults, mud-slinging and racism. |

I love Sean Hannity-he is so much better looking than Rush! I adore Laura Ingram as well-wanna insult her too and all who don't suscribe to your America hating views?
I read and research as much as I can and draw my own conclusions from the facts. I, like many others right now, find Mr. Churchill's comments disgusting. I don't need to mount a freakin PC soapbox to have a right to say what is obvious to many: the guy is WHACK!
My comment regarding your 'fans" was meant to be funny, I actually don't know anyone who is your fan, apart from twistin hehe. |
