Alright, this is just a silly Sunday afternoon post, but I can suffer in silence no longer.

Every time I put microwave popcorn in the microwave (not in the toaster...it doesn't work...just trust me here) it comes out partially burnt. Is the problem my Mexican microwave popcorn, or my Malaysian microwave?

1. Are you diligently standing by (but not directly in front of) the microwave, listening for when the pop slows down?

2. Have you tried just taking it out 30 seconds before it times down to zero?

3. I'm really of no help at all. Our microwave has a nifty little popcorn button and it makes perfect popcorn every time.

Wink

1. standing in front of it usually, with my nose near the vent, to detect the first whiff of burnt.

2. I hit it for 4 minutes, but stop it early if need be, which is usually the case.

3. trade ya microwaves?

I think its got something to do with how quickly the bag puffs up while its popping, and the amount of actual kernels that are in contact with the bottom of the microwave. It seems to burn less if you put the bag on a plate, maybe something about taking the heat away from the bag??

Or, just put up with it, and cover the whole lot with Valentina! MMMMMMM Wink

And putting your head so close to all that radiation?!? Shocked Maybe its something else that's going to get burnt!

I know what you mean. The same thing happens with popcorn in my microwave. The only option I've found to keep the popcorn from burning is to take it out sooner, but then there are lots of "old maids" to deal with.

(Wondering if "old maids" is a Midwestern colloquialism.)

Glad to see I'm not alone on this spell-binding issue.

Old maids...I like. Fitting...
