I took an EFL on-line teaching course just to catch up with my computer skills. For that purpose, it was excellent. But overall, after the course, my opinion was that using ONLY an on-line environment seemed rather silly - a lot of technology for little successful interaction. The course, however, was excellent:
Certificate in On-Line Teaching of English, http://www.nll.co.uk/colte/, Net Learn Languages; United Kingdom.
I've taught English over the telephone too. This seems to be more successful with students who are at the higher intermediate or above levels. At the lower levels, it just doesn't work. I had one woman who was seriously shy and we had to switch from telephone to face-to-face and I STILL had problems getting her to talk.
If I were you, I would ask them for their syllabus. Ask them how they use the Net to teach, etc. They "might" be using the "Net teaching" as an enticement to get teachers to come to Indonesia, but once you're there, that program may not exist. |
