I have been offered a job in Gotemba and am wondering if anyone could tell me what the area is like. I've seen some general travel website stuff but can anyone tell me what living there might be like? I'm an American with a year's experience in Fukuoka.
Thanks! |

I've never lived in Gotemba but I've passed through it on numerous occaisions... It's a fairly uninteresting place although on a clear day has Mt Fuji as a backdrop... so that is nice. There is also a big retail "outlet" shopping centre with slightly reduced prices on designer labels... so if you're into shopping in a big way then this is a good place. I think there are also a few golf courses there.

There's also a decent amusement park there. |

Ah... so that's the famous Fujikyu Highland ... many of my students talk about it... I never realised it was in Gotemba. |
