I wanna go everywhere!
Have only worked in China as yet, but I'm planning to go to many more places.
That's one of the great things in ESL, the world is at your feet.
I've been doing tourleading as well, but that's more or less season bound, and being on the road all the time kinda wears you down.
In teaching you can just stick around one place a bit, get somekind of social life going, stuff like that.
Few places on the list are: Spain, Japan, Indonesia, Chile or Peru, and Russia. |

Thailand and Vietnam.
I enjoy hot weather and beaches, Buddhism and religious art, tonal languages and spicy food, and meeting Asian women. |

I read/heard somewhere (USA Today?) that the world is really, really, quite big. Thought it would see some of it.

I like ancient history, hot weather and hot men
Maybe Brazil next. I can settle for two out of three.
My advice to people who are wondering where to go is why not choose a country where you find the people attractive? You're sure to enjoy yourself!

For a brief time I taught in Armenia...... They are the first Christians.

Armenia is credited as being the first state to establish Christianity as its official religion but that's quite a different meaning than, "They are the first Christians".
- Should we start a new thread?

Well then, I stand corrected. I didn't mean to come across as if being the first Christians was something to brag about. After all, it may well be that adopting a religion such as Christianity (or any other for that matter) is a sign of profound and utter stupidity. |

| Starglass1, I agree about picking some place where you find the people attractive. That is why I will be off to Brazil after I graduate in December. The only problem is I cannot stay long because I have college loans to pay off. I will only be able to stay in Brazil for one year. Then off to Asia for a while. This summer I will be teaching at an ESL Summer Camp in China for two months. I am currently taking Chinese so it should be interesting. |

Who by? People who can't read a map presumably. It's bounded by Asian countries on all sides. |

Armenians are considered a European people and so is their language. That is all I meant. |

Who are Armenians considered a European people by?
And why do you say they speak a European language if their country is not in Europe? The language family is Indo-European, includes many Asian languages, and almost certainly originated in Asia. |

I always fancied teaching in Italy, but you've put me off, now! Next choice would be Prague. |

I've taught in:
Spain - Liked it enough but the cold winters in the north reminded me too much of home. The standard of driving did my head in.
Holland - Liked it a lot but the standard of weed did my head in.
Indonesia - love it. The standard of beautiful ladies does my head in.
UK - Too much of what I'm used to. The standard of crap weather did my head in. |

volunteering in America.
Celta in Moscow.
6 months in Germany.
Several Years in Russia.
Originally wanted to hang out in a dirt road village in China till my student loans kicked in, then go to Taiwan to make a little money until I went home. Still haven't seen China.
Currently thinking about Vietnam or India or Syria or Saudi. Spirituality or money? Hmm...
dream: after student loans are paid retire to a little dirt road village in Burma. Or maybe one semester in a country like Russia working for subsistence. One semester working for bucks (America or ME). One semester living somewhere where there's no work and no need to work. Be a nice little round till I retire to that dirt road village in ...? |
