I try to be respectful of all users here, but sometimes A. you bring the criticisms on yourself. Your last post was pure nonsense. For the last time, we are not oppressed here. People can and do get ARCs for their family members. We have rights and a cushy life here.

Have there? Care to name some cases!

Yes there is. We have the same rights to appeal as anyone else. How many appeals for anything have you actually lodged with the courts to be suggesting that the law is not applied?

Please provide two example amongst these 'several'. Just two.

From memory, you are based in Taipei, and work for Kojen.

STEP 1:
Kojen is likely to have handled the work permit application, received and then handed the work permit onto you. This is where the involvement of the CLA stops, as they are the ones who issue work permits.

STEP 2:
You would most likely have taken the work permit and your passport to the Bureau of Consular Affairs on Jinan Road and got your Resident Visa (10 day turn around from memory). They give you a ticket with a 'Pick up after (date)' notification.

STEP 3:
You would then have taken your passport with Resident Visa inside, to the Foreign Affairs Police Station on Yenping Road, near Ximending. This needs to be done within seven days of getting your resident visa. From memory it takes three or seven days to process - I am afraid that I can't really exactly which. There are generally not any problems with delays in this arena, as all the paperwork has been done, and all they need to do is prepare the actual ARC card. This is all handled in house by the FAP.

From memory, you actually got your Resident Visa in Hong Kong. So I assume that on your return you went to the FAP and got your ARC.

That sounds about right.

Quote:
Do you recall if you actually went into the offices to get your ARC? Generally speaking foreigners don't go to the CLA as we don't really have any business there, unless we have an employment dispute. The FAP is the storefront for foreigners when it comes to ARC's.

We went to the police station.

Quote:
Fortigurn, when did you enounter delays? Was it before or while you were in Hong Kong, or after when you had returned on your Resident Visa?

Before, during and after.

Quote:
The FAP are the people that you pick up your ARC from. Did you pick up your ARC or did someone from Kojen pick it up for you?

We picked it up from the police station.

I guess the reason why I thought that we were getting our ARC processed by the CLA was that we were told we were getting our ARC processed by the CLA. That was either beaureacratic shorthand, or just plain wrong.

Thanks for the clarification. Smile

Please provide details. Don't simply drop names. You suggest that the government will deport people with APRCs at the drop of a hat. Please show how this is so. We don't know who these people are, or anything about their particular cases. For all we know, they may not exist, or they may have been deported with just cause. Also, if this is a supposed tendency of the ROC government, you'll be able to provide numerous other varifiable cases where this type of thing has occured as well, right?

Well I hope that these individuals didn't contact you in confidence, only to have you drop their names on a public forum.

What exactly was the point of mentioning their names here? Was that meant to answer the question and somehow comprise proof of your claims?

What would have been of far more value would have been outlining their stories in detail without the need to mention their names. Your failure to do so is clearly evasive on your behalf as you clearly cannot support the claims that you make. At least be man enough to admit that your comments are based solely upon your personal opinion and not based upon any facts.

I should qualify the statement. I try to be respectful to most users here. The exception being those who lurk, send inappropriate pms and generally conduct themselves in such a way as to get themselves banned fom other sites on the web.

Brilliant. You once again demonstrate how truly ignorant you are. Your link leads to an apology (of sorts) as Loretta (Stragbasher, TMWC) pledged that if I still had a job after CNY, he'd be buying the drinks. After all he and I went thru, the fact that we are still friends should indicate how wrong you are about the facts in this case. But keep nattering about, you are good entertainment.
