How does a CBC get a job teaching English in Taiwan? I've tried, I've been told that it's possible, but I'm losing hope.

Advice anyone?

CBC. You mean Canadian born Chinese, right? My girlfriend is a CBC (or CBTaiwanese). You can get work here. She did. She actually makes more than I do. Do you speak mandarin? Most of the major companies employ chinese co-teachers, but smaller ones don't. So, a teacher who is a native English speaker and can speak mandarin is often sought after by these smaller schools. It's also possible to get hired as a Chinese English teacher by the major companies, but your written chinese and kk phonetics had better be really good. Keep looking. I thought it was going to be really hard for my gf to find work. I had even considered the possibility of supporting her while she just took courses or something because I thought she might not find anything. However, she did find something. I think you can too.

Yes, Canadian born Chinese. Only thing is I don't speak Mandarin, I speak Cantonese. Trying to learn Mandarin now. Thanx anyway.

Cheers
