my husband and i are getting ready to do tefl and i have some questions for anybody who has taken the egypt course.
1. are we likely to get really sick? i have heard horror stories about egypt being very dirty and full of disease, is this true?
2. will my husband and i be able to share a room during the training course or will we have seperate rooms?
3. any other general comments on this course? |

Most of the third world is very dirty and full of disease. However, there are MANY places to eat. Pizza Hut, McDonalds, etc. And almost everywhere delivers. (if you can find the number). Try a resturant in Zamalek called Masion Thomas. Best pizza in the world. Eating at the big hotels is safe as well.
Food on the street is mostly OK. Make sure everything is cooked well. Try koshuri and shwarma. Drink bottled water etc.
I lived there for ver a year and sometimes had the runs but never got really sick, I wouldn't worry if I were you.
You will prob be able to stay together. If you are getting a place yourselves DO NOT get one downtown by Taquir Square. (by Egyptian Museum).. Alot of tourist stay there and its full of Egyptians trying to get money out of you. Many come away with a bad impression of Egypt because they had to deal with the hassle involved in staying there. Zamalek is the best place to stay.
Ive never taken the course, but if you want a job there after you won't have a prob finding one. |
