Hello All,

I'm not exactly a newbie, but I might as well be. Six months experience, pre-CELTA, in China and now roughly two post-CELTA, albeit mostly privates here in Sevilla, Spain.

Because I'm looking elsewhere in the world for a position after the summer, I've done a few phone interviews. Haven't heard anything yet, but who knows, I might have landed something and just haven't found out.

The question: Does anybody here have experience with phone interviewing, either as interviewer or interviewee? The couple I've done have varied widely.

What questions to expect, usually?
What questions should YOU ask, usually?

Much thanks in advance.

I have been both interviewee and interviewer quite frequently.

As an interviewee, you should find out what the school or organization is looking for. Ask questions about THEIR needs, where they are going, etc. That will allow you to position your reponses when they ask you questions. You also want to find out if they are going to be problematic if you work for them....

As an interviewer, I ask questions to find out how well the interviewee will fit in. I also ask him/her to describe his/her teaching style. I usually ask about the best and worst jobs he/she has had, and why.
