Does anyone have any knowledge about living and working in the following locations...

Ioannina, Corfu, Thessaloniki.

I'm looking for a cosmopolitan university town with good nightlife... any other suggestions?

Cofu is probably a no-no. There is a large British expat population competing with you for any jobs going and the university isn't large enough to make much of an impact on the place (the "residences" are a few hotels near the port booked for the long off-season). If you speak German then there are a lot more employment possibilities, even as a non-native speaker. Nightlife isn't too bad in winter as most of the islanders retreat to Corfu Town itself, however if you want to live in a cottage by the beach you are going to be pretty much by yourself.

Thessaloniki is probably the best place to live in Greece. Athens is far too big to really get to know properly and most other places can get claustrophobic if you weren't brought up there in the first place.

Don't know much about Ioannina. Gets a lot colder than the other two in winter. Pleasant enough for the odd day or two.

Students really don't affect the character of towns as they do in Britain and the US since most are struggling to get by on whatever their parents can send them so they don't go out much.

Thanks for that, John.

Anyone else got any experience of living and working in Thessaloniki?

first decide which city or island you want to work in or on.

Then try online searches with the particular location, etc
Try the obvious University, language center searches.

Dont just say I WANT TO WORK IN GREECE. This is silly.
Each place is completely different from the other.

I had good experineces in Athens, but that was years ago.
Salaries suck in Greece, but hey when in GREECE..hahahaha Rolling Eyes Mr. Green mrgreenmrgreenmrgreen
