Does anybody know any places to find cheap suits in Tokyo? Aoyama, the Suit company, or other department stores selling so-called discount brand-new suits are frankly too pricey for me, but I was hoping for something a little more refined than a suit from a hyaku-en store, or Don Quixote etc. A used clothing store (something like Value Village in Canada) would be nice, but I haven`t seen anything like that. Also, I am basically illiterate I this country, so I simply might not have noticed. Anyone know a good place? I`m teaching in Ginza, and although I`m basically poor (I just have 1 stupid suit I brought, which I use everyday), I`d like to diversify my business wardrobe a bit more, just to fit in. Just some basic business attire for cheap (doesn`t have to be custom tailored or anything). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Aoki and Torii are two exclusively suit oriented stores that are considered middle of the road price wise. Now is Freshmen Season(rookie first year salarymen who've graduated college and will be starting a job and need suits) so plenty of them have such suits for sale. Size might be a problem as ave sizes for the west border on getting a lil too big here.

Daie, Jusco, etc also have decent prices on suits sometimes too.

But if you are trying to buy a suit for under say 25,000 yen, good luck... you're gonna find it a challenge.

Just spend your first paycheck on a decent wardrobe.

Walk around any (semi) major train station and take a look around. Suits have become very cheap in the last ten years. Mind you, they might not fit you right as they would be more apt to fit the local Japanese.

Mind you, I'm a big fan of Eddie Bauer and LL Bean but find their chinos and such don't fit as well as if I order them directly from the states.

Again, just a matter of the "Japanese fit". I usually hold off on suit purchases until I head home for a holiday and then buy a new suit or two. They are actually cheaper (and I believe of better quality) than the cheap suits here, and even better than order-made suits in SE Asia.
