Here are some web sites you might consider to register yourself as a private lesson instructor. Locations are somewhat limited.
http://www.nativeconnection.net
http://homepage1.nifty.com/y-dream-support/englishteacher/
http://www.findateacher.net
www.eigotown.com/database/teacherdb_eltnews/teacher_form.shtml

Other than that, in my opinion, teaching private lessons is pretty much an individual thing. Students seem to want different things, and their levels may vary. Even though you are pretty much doing the same thing as you would in an eikaiwa, generally speaking, what more would you want to know? I mean, I've made a short file of information on what I consider important in setting yourself up, but I don't include how to teach the lessons themselves. (Send me an email if you like, and I'll give it to you. [email protected] ) You'll probably use books that you would find in any eikaiwa or junior high school, if you even use books at all. |

I think there may be a miscommunication here.
A "private" class can have two meanings:
1) teaching on your own, without a Japanese English-school building wrapped around you... like teaching a friend on Sundays.
2) teaching one-on-one (one student at a time).
So, which is it ?
and,
What kind of advice are you looking for ? How to find a gig, decent lesson plans, what's legal... ? |
