I ask because I've been teaching at a senmongakko for the past few years, and the quality of the students has deteriorated tremendously. In the first week of this school year, the English teachers were appalled at how bad the new students were. They're getting a little better (or is it that many of them have already stopped coming?), but they're still basically alleycats. If it weren't for the foreign students, I would have jumped ship a long time ago.

I've heard that rough students are common in senmongakko these days, because enrollment is declining and the schools are taking anybody. What has your experience been?
