Well Id just like to say Poland gets better (for me anyway) everyday and my first week seems a distant memory.. Even Zabrze isnt THAT bad now...

So Im thinking about staying on for a bit - I really like the school Im at - but they teach Callan method and I cant stand it (I SHANT teach it any more WHILST I am here) .... I remember when looking for jobs in Poland that Callan method seemed quite common.

Im interested to know if there are many of schools here which use more free talking (with activities etc) styles or if they are mostly this style... all feedback is appreciated.

Yes. In Poland most schools use the Callan method or the communicative approach.

If the school isn't advertised as a Callan school then it probably uses the communicative approach.

A CELTA or a TEFL will help you find work.

I would try to get out while you can as I've been told that some schools don't like to hire teachers who have taught Callan as their methods are considerd to be the opposite of the student centered approach.

Thanks, Ive been teaching for 4 years with no CELTA or TEFL and Im doing all right. Was just wondering really about other styles in Poland - Callan really is the pits (IMHO) but going by the feedback it seems there are plenty of schools here who dont use it.

Anyway, Im not really gettign on too well with Poland so Im probably heading back to Asia anyway !!
