I don't mean Turkey. I mean this forum, the Turkish forum.

I don't wish to sound sanctimonious but I originally joined( I used to be a lurker) because someone asked a question and I felt I was in a position to pass on my experience and help someone.
Since then I like to think that I have helped fellow posters. well I know I have. I have helped people with acccommodation problems and I have sent people in the right direction in finding a job. On the flipside people have helped me and I have learned from others and for that I am grateful.
Nowadays I get enjoyment from the general banter and of course, most importantly, I find out where and when I can watch important football matches.I have also made friends with fellow posters- real friends not cyber buddies( Oh yeah I also have a sick pervesion in spoiling Eastenders plots for people)
So Why did you join and post?

Oh good. I was afraid the topic heading was an existential question and I got befuddled.

Same as above. I think my first post was about a terrible school I used to work for, who I knew would be hiring after I left, and I sent out what was supposed to be a warning but was really a whiny rant.

Since then, amusement. Either I'm bored and I like watching the arguments, or I'm busy and I don't want to do whatever I'm supposed to be doing. Also, I have this multi-tasking thing where I can't stand to do just one thing at a time-- usually I'm reading this, researching a lesson, preparing some handout, and emailing my dad at the same time.

I often like the questions raised, like about women covering and private unis. And at work I'm the only foreigner around and I need to get my head straight.

And the imaginary friends thing is cool. One thought I entertain is that all the other posters are actually one person pretending to be different people. Sometimes I think actually meeting you people would spoil the fun. Or maybe not. Most people seem pretty interesting and intelligent with a sense of humor I can appreciate, but I'm such a social retard I think I'm better off in my office.... Except my break was over 5 minutes ago so what am I still doing here?

To help me to learn how to use this dam thing. Still don't know how to Quote, delete or how you lot get thoses cool things on side of your notes(is that the right term) By the way (from this forum btw) what does the URL spot mean and do.

Also like dmb I wanted to help and get helped. Also I'm fed up with defending my decison to live here to the mindless twits, who think midnight express is turkey. At least here we can set the record strait.

Also its a great way to kill a few hours at school.

i came to the forum to defend ET Laughing But I think it is interesting to see people's comments on a variety of things. I'm somewhat appalled at the spelling... I think it is a good place for help (both ways) but I think someone new would have to sift through a lot of chit chat.

I first joined to defend ET from the what I thought were baseless attacks from people like Ekmekparasi, Scarred 2 etc. I did a very good job in sticking up for ET but as time went on and I realised what was really going on at work I found myself having to agree with much of what ekmekparasi was saying. I have on many occasions tried to bury the hatchet but have been given the cold shoulder.
