A week earlier I would have opined our salaries are going to be worth more in foreign currency terms within one year as China makes its national currency a freely convertible one over a foreseeable time.
While our salaries will probably remain intact, their exchange value would increase as buying euros or American dollars would become cheaper.
But after the latest spat between Chinese extremists and Japan I am no longer so optimistic. What if a full-scale war breaks out?

That, however, seems to have been forestalled in extremis. Today's noises emanating from official sources are a lot less belligerent.

I wouldn't assume that a 'floating' yuan will really be allowed to fluctuate much. The Chinese economy would suffer greatly by a strong yuan and the Chinese gov't knows this. Your yuan wont be doubling in value anytime soon, barring an international monetary crisis hitting the US and Europe.
