I just got back from a week in the DR. In an earlier thread I mentioned the possibility of starting a school in Puerto Plata. The land has been purchased and there are pictures of it.
This trip I also met with owners of a farming operation called Savid (for Salud y Vida) which produces organic bananas sold in Europe. They are top-notch businesspeople and their operation was incredible to see. The estimated impact the operation makes on the economy is 15k-20k employeed in Latin America and Europe. They run under a European Fair Trade Commission and meet several European standards of production.
Also explored Santo Domingo. Not my favorite part of the island but I took a lot of pictures.
