There's obviously a few people on this forum who know Istanbul fairly well. So, I was hoping to get your opinions on the Istanbul Hash.
Yeah, I know their website is www.ih3.org ... but what have YOU heard about them? |

Hi again!
Yeah, I misled you guys a little. I'm actually on the Mis-Management of the IH3 - I just wanted to learn what you guys thought of us.
As dmb wrote, having a few beers is all part of hashing - after all we are "the drinking club with a running problem":) Let me tell you a little bit more about the hash though:-
Every Sunday we meet up in Levent at 1 o'clock and car-share or bus it out to where the hares have laid the trail of flour or red lentils. Two weeks ago it was out near Kilyos and last Sunday next to merli Baraj.
This Sunday our main hare is Agatha (that's his hash name). Now, Agatha is keen on setting "cultural runs" as we call them. On our yahoogroup he writes "If you accept me as your humble hairless hare, I will give you another run through history, a long time dream of mine: We will trace the wall of Thrace along an A to B run from YeniKapi to the Golden Horn".
For Sunday's run we are advising hashers to go straight to the run site for the 2 o'clock start. The easiest way would be to jump into a taxi after getting to Eminn and tell the driver "Yeni Kapi - Surlarin dibindeki otopark" (Yeni Kapi - the carpark at the end of the wall) - This should take 10 minutes (or 4 YTL) from Eminn.
After the run we always have a short ceremony where hashers, who have committed misdemeanours on the run are made to drink a mug of Efes:-) Newcomers to the hash are not asked to pay for the run or for the beers they drink. On Sunday, we will almost certainly retire after the ceremony to a bar under the Galata bridge for something to eat. Of course, newcomers will have to pay their share for the food, but then again, it's fairly cheap under the bridge.
Oh, one more thing. If you do decide to come on Sunday then Agatha asks us all to "bring a small container with a cork or water tight lid" - Why? Your guess is as good as mine :-)
By the way, my hash name is Master Baiter ... and it would be great to see a few of you on Sunday. |

Hi again guys ... I just thought you might like to know that we had a great time last Sunday as we "traced the walls of Trace" from Yedi Kle to the Golden Horn. After the run and ceremony, instead of going to a cheap restaurant for the on-on-on, we retired to the hares' place for a bbq.
For more info on the Istanbul Hash, click on the link below for our web site:
www.ih3.org
After entering the site you will need to click on "FAQ" for relevant info on things like the location of the weekly meeting place/pick-up point. For the most up-to-date news, like where this Sunday's run site will be, then click on the logo for access to our yahoogroup.
On on!
