After several years of teaching on the standard BA plus TEFL combo (Trinity college TESOL, really) I feel that I'd like to investigate some further training. I don't really feel up to a masters yet, at any rate, and would prefer to eventually do one in something that interests me more than applied linguistics...

So I'm thinking about a diploma. Who has got one out there? How long did it take, and how much did it cost? And how did you like it? Was it worth the time/money as a learning experience? Did it change you as a teacher? Did it open any career paths that might have otherwise remained closed?

Also, does anyone know about online or distance learning options for this? Thanks in advance,

Do the Trinity Diploma; or the DELTA, which is basically the same thing.

Where? I did a DELTA in London, it cost me 2000 pounds sterling, and lasted 2 months as an intensive course. The vast majority of (wiser) people do it over 9.

When? Not that long ago.

How? I asked International House, and they said yes.

Why? To gain access to better paying jobs in more prestigious organisations. (Hasn�t worked yet )

To be honest, I�m yet to reap fully the rewards. The DELTA was a lot of money and a lot of work, but I�m hopeful that it will pay off in the future.

I was thinking Trinity or Delta. Do you know if there are any good distance learning programs for these? I'm in Quito, Ecuador, and the local "diploma" programs I've seen look pretty bad, but my job is pretty good and I don't really want to leave...
