I'm in China teaching in a rural community. I want to know how my pay stands up to the average. What is the average pay per hour for teaching in China with a TEFL diploma, a university 4 year degree, not in Education or English and no experience? |

Dear Lady:
You can research this matter fairly simply.
Go to www.chinatefl.com; www.teachinchina.com; Dave's ESLcafe.com/internationaljobs
chinatefl and teachinchina list jobs by provinces. You can compare your school with others in your own province or with other provinces.
I once studied this question in depth and for someone with your qualifications in a rural area the norm appeared to be either 2,500 or 3,500, depending upon exactly how rural. There is rural and then there is the hinterland.
In metropolitan areas it appeared to be a little higher at 4,000 or 4,500. |
