Hi. I have a job offer in Rangon, Myanmar. Pays about 24,000 US...Have any of you been there and if so did you have a good experience? I suspect there will not be a large ESL expat community in Rangon...
I am 99 percent sure that I am taking the job. Don't want to pass up the adventure.
Thanks for any advice or comments.

Nomad Dan, go to the British Council website and look at their teaching vacancies. They have a vacancy for their centre in Rangoon. If you click on 'review teaching centre' it gives you loads of info on living in Rangoon. |

Here's the link for you, which you may have to copy and paste because I'm not very tech-savvy.

You'll have to scroll down and find the job, click on it and then on 'review teaching centre'. I considered it myself because it sounds so attractive. Myanmar is absolutely fascinating, like stepping back in time 200 years. Or at least it was twenty years ago when I paid the country a visit! |

Thanks for the link. It does look very attractive. I am an American, therefore cannot apply. I am tossing around two offers, one is in Rangon and the other is in Guatemala. Both would have a lot to offer...
Cheers,

I did see the information you were referring to...and I appreciate it. I think it is enlightened of the British to consider this a very interesting time to be in Myammar. My country holds no such attitude apparently.
Again, thank you.
