Any of you have any stories about meeting someone special in Taiwan?? For me, I am just graduated from university and moving to a new country...the possibilities are there so just thought I would ask to see...how many of you maybe met a future wife or husband...or even just dated someone you met there. Stories are always fun to hear.

I meant my future ex-wife in Taiwan! She was first a one night stand then my student then girlfriend and then wife and soon to be ex-wife.
We meant once at a bar. At the time, I didn't know she was going to the school I going to teach at. The bar was crowded that night. She walks up to my table wearing a short pink skirt and and a white blouse. For a Taiwanese chick she has nice firm legs. She ran track for the school she went to back then. I then look into her slanted dark eye and felt hypnotized. She then gracefully asked if she could sit down in the empty chair across from me. Of course, I smiled and said, "Please do!"
We had a few drinks. I drank beer and she drank jin tonics. Her English was pretty good for being young. I guessed she must be a college student or something!
She then tells me she has to go. I not knowing she goes to my school and hoping to see her again, I asked her for her number. She then asked me, "Do you want to come to my place?"
"This must be a trick question!" I think to myself. "Sure!" I smiled.
The minute I closed the door after entering her place, she turns around and kiss me as she starts unbuckling my belt. We slept very little that night even though we spent most of the night in bed.
I had just started teaching at a high school in Taipei and so she didn't know I was the new English teacher just like I didn't know she was one of my students. We were both surprised the first time we saw each other in the hallway. She would tell me later she felt just like I did. When we saw each other for the first time. My legs felt cold and stiff, my heart started beating so rapidly I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
I just said slightly louder than a whisper, "Hello!" I could tell by the look in her beautiful narrow eyes that she was as nervous as me. She smiled and nodded while walking on past me. We kept pretty much to ourselves not saying a word to each other for a whole month. Talking casually to other teachers and students I found out that she had a boyfriend and sometimes gets back at him by having sex with foreigners at his place when he is away. A few teachers and some of her friends worried that one day something bad was going to happen. Everyone knows that she looks more like a woman than a high school girl.
One day I asked her if that is what happened, and she admitted yes. We gradually became friends keeping our encounter to ourselves. We didn't even talked about that night again for the rest of the school year.
I must admit I was attached to her back then. I would tell myself, "She is a high school girl 9 years younger than me. I don't like her!" But every time we were together, a pleasant feeling came from my heart throughout my body. I always enjoyed teaching her class. I seldom picked her to answer any question or for anything. But we often talked between classes or after school.
She finally broke up with her boyfriend a few months later. But I was still in denial or at least trying not to fall in love with a high school sweet heart!
She kept gave many hints that she wanted me to take her out until one day just asked if I would! I told her, I couldn't it was against the law and morally wrong!
The next day she gets a boyfriend at the school and makes out with him in my office. She was on her knees and he was standing when I walked in. The look on his face. He started crying and begging me not to throw him out of school. I just told him, "Pull up your pants and go to class!"
I talked with her during lunch. I tried to get her to understand how wrong it is to use people, but she did have logic to her actions. Her explanation reached me just as my licture touched her. The conversation put us in a deep bound, we understood each other.
A year later, we started dating seriously and eventually got married. |

And then Hwozdecki, there are plenty of relationships between consenting adults, which is the norm here just as it is back home.
Provided that you are even slightly handsome and have at least a grain of a personality you should be able to find yourself a girlfriend pretty easily. Depending upon where you look will depend upon which type of girl you end up with. Yes there are some pretty progressive girls here, but overall I believe that most are pretty conservative - but not too conservative! |

I'd say even if you don't have the qualities the above poster listed at your age you will be beating them off with a stick though this can be a little dependent on where you live. Although I am assuming you are in your twenties and not someone who went to university as a mature student. If you live in a really small town miles from anywhere the odds are not stacked in your favour.
Realize though some questions that seem like pick-up lines are often just conversation starters: Are you single? Are you married? How long will you be in Taiwan? What time do you go to bed? Do you like Taiwanese/Chinese girls? are some examples. Guys will ask the same questions.
Good luck. |

Good points, Griswald and Matchstick Man!
Moreover, I would imagine that dating one's students is always a bad idea--as the esteemed Big John Stud shows in his novella (?)......
I believe that most girls here "Kiss and Tell"

Well that's nice. So anymore er..more romantic stories?? I don't know how this question came across. I'm not really looking for romance in that sense. Also, just wondering, how do they like half-asian half-white people overthere? Here in Canada only asian people really care about it. Not so much with the non-asians.

Big John Stud,
All I can say is WOW! It must have been quite a ride while it lasted. I can't decide if I should be envious or take what you wrote as a major warning.

I would take it as a Penthouse Letters-type work of fiction.

The ride is still going on and on. But of course the peek is over! Over all though, she is no different than any other woman. The best thing about her was that right from the beginning she was expressive so I knew what I was getting into right from the get go! |
