Has anyone teaching in Oman ever tried to use video cameras in class? Is there any resistance to the idea among students or faculty?
I would like to use a video camera in many different ways to improve my teaching and the learning of my students. Any experiences? |

There is a cultural issue involved here. If your students are all male, it would probably be OK. But, if you have female students, it would require permission from all students and their families and administration - and if I didn't have all that in writing, I wouldn't consider it.
If you would only be filming yourself, no problem...

Precisely. We have made some classroom videos here, but from the back of the room, focusing on the teacher. It makes them pretty useless as a record of classroom interaction, but the issues with filming women are much too sensitive to do anything else. |
