Having finished my grading last weekend, I referenced the above which refers to Stephen King's book. I also have King's book. I started at zero again with half a dozen tenses, 7 W's & 1 H, 6 senses, and emphasis on the active voice.

I said this so many times that I know it by heart: "Writing in the active voice can improve your speaking ability."

Nobody bought it. The only prize is the test score.

I'm trying to teach the students to write a dozen basic sentences that they can use as a road map and go back and expand the sentences and add details.

Instead, they want to bone up on their Japanese.

I followed the earlier suggestions given with limited success.

The classes are different levels.

I was doing topic writing at the beginning of the year but no one wishes to do independent work.

It's all very sorry. What makes it worse is that I'm published and I remember how far I've come in the last ten years.

My Spanish used to be passable but my Chinese may be better than my Spanish now.

Excuse the lack of concision but I just need a few ideas so I can finish and move to my next gig.
I know there's a lot of experience here and my new cycle starts on Wednesday.
Cheers
Cheers.
